My 20

1. I decided to do this here not just to be more "professional" but also because I've found that I have befriended many people on Facebook that I'm not really friends with. I mean, I've literally spoken to that person maybe twice in my entire life, but now suddenly we're friends. I don't ever read their status, or notes, or send them messages, but yet I'm still too lazy to just take them off my friend list. It's very weird to me.

2. My favorite show on earth is The Simpsons. I frequently use quotes from the show to describe things to people. If I've had a bad day I can look up funny quotes on the internet to make myself laugh. When the movie came out, I was the first person in line at the midnight showing: this is how serious I am.

3. With that being said, I can not stand Family Guy (or anything else Seth McFarlan (sp?) does for that matter). I even tried to like it-but the episode I saw had a character that was supposed to be Jesus calling God from earth and telling him that he didn't want to live with his mother anymore, like they were divorced. Appropriately, God was in bed with a blonde woman when he answered the phone. This was all it took for me to never want to see it again.

4. I have a recurring dream that my teeth have either fell out or are falling out at the time. When I say recurring I mean I've had this dream over 15 times during my life. I have absolutely no idea what this means. I'm sure there is an explanation in one of those dream books-but I'm too afraid to find out in fear that it may be bad.

5. I can not stand it when I'm at a family gathering (such as Christmas) and people ask me why David and I don't have kids yet. It makes me want to hit people. This past year it even went as far as me saying "Maybe in 4 or 5 years" and the reply being "You'll be 30 by then!". It angered me beyond belief. First of all, why would that be a bad thing. Some people don't get married until they are 30. Does that mean they shouldn't be having children? Second, besides the fact that I don't know if I'll ever have kids, I really don't feel that this is the best time to bring a child into the world. There are many issues that need to be fixed first in our world. Oh yeah, and let not forget the most important thing-I'm in graduate school. I wouldn't even have time for a baby.

6. Speaking of school, I pretty much lost all faith in the UH administration last semester. I had grading issues last semester and no matter who I tried to talk to, they did not care. I guess tenure really does made you a god.

7. About two weeks ago Jessica and I were looking around on the internet while waiting for class. Somehow we came across a picture of a chicken being walked on a leash. Since that time, I've become slightly obsessed with having one. Its name would be Oliver. It would be brown with a red leash and it would have a house in the garage. Sometimes in class when I'm bored I draw pictures of it.

8. I've always wanted to cut my hair really short, but I'm too afraid that it will turn out horribly. I've even gone for a haircut with the intention of doing it, but as I sit down in the chair I won't let myself.

9. I still play my euphonium. In fact, if I don't it really starts to bother me. I start to feel guilty about it, even though I have no reason to. I thinks it has just become a part of me since I was required to practice every day for over 10 years. However, I'm a little proud of my self for still doing it. It would make me sad to not have that talent anymore.

10. My husband is my hero. If I could be more like anyone on earth, it would be him. He always takes care of me and lets me know things are going to work out. I'm pretty negative, but he can always make me feel better about anything. He is the model of human strength and endurance when life is hard. I don't deserve him at all, but he is my life and I don't know how I would get by without him.

11. I can not stand being cold. At all. It literally hurts when I'm cold. I also get that way very easily. A temperature of about 75 is good for me-indoors and outdoors. Otherwise, I need a sweater or jacket on. This is why I will never move away from Texas.

12. My favorite food is salad. I could eat salad all day, every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it. In fact, we're having salad for dinner tonight.

13. I am very thankful for my group of friends from Cleveland. The first time David went to Erica's house with me and met everyone, he couldn't believe that we were all still close friends or even still talk to each other. He doesn't speak to anyone from high school-which is typical for many people. I think we have something very special together as a group. I am a better person by having them in my life.

14. Along with the above statement-I've found that I have been very selective in who I become close friends with in college. I have many, many acquaintances, but only a select few very close friends. I really don't see this as a bad thing because the people that I do talk to from Lamar/UH are very amazing people in my eyes. I wouldn't want to go through the rest of my life without having them there with me.

15. I love my Honda Fit. It's the best car that I've ever had. It's so versatile and I love it's bright blue color. It makes me happy to drive it. In fact, I think even if someone offered me any other car on earth for free, I would still keep my Fit.

16. Just this past weekend I read an article in the San Antonio paper about Facebook's 25. Apparently people are getting into trouble by their employers because they are revealing to much. If you really have something so personal to hide that you could get reprimanded for it at work, maybe you shouldn't be telling people. How embarrassing.....

17. Coconut Lime Verbena is my favorite scent from Bath and Body Works. It reminds me of Cozumel every time I smell it. I always have the foam soap in our guest bathroom.

18. I believe that going to Dave and Buster's is one of the best ways for anyone to celebrate a birthday. Period. :)

19. If I wasn't a pharmacist, I would probably be a band director. However, the more I think about it, the more confused I get about whether I would prefer teaching beginners or high school students. I could see the pros and cons of both. I hope that I never have to actually make a decision on this.

20. This actually took more thought and time than I originally planned for: which only reaffirms my decision to not post it on Facebook. :) I realize it's only 20 and not the typical 25-but I'm tired and maybe just don't have that interesting of a life?? I'll just stick with "I'm tired". Thanks for reading.

  2. I have that teeth falling out dream too. It always freaks me out and I wake up thinking that I really have lost some teeth.

  3. Really?? The dream always freaks me out. I thought I was the only one!

Yeah, I really want a pet chicken. I don't know where I would keep it though. :(

  4. Okay, so being an ag. teacher #7 kinda freaks me out because reminds me of someone highly involved in PETA (an ag. teacher's worse nightmare). Just the fact that a chicken is on a leash and that they would probably say that it is more "ethical". However, I found it quite hilarious that people actually do that....and that you want to do it to. So nonetheless, I laughed. :)
